Kamairicha
TeaCha's Notes:
My love for roasted teas and the "uniqueness" of roasted Japanese green teas, inspired me to try this tea. I love the full flavored creamy nuttiness and dense cuppa of this Kamairicha green tea. My husband and I found this tea to be quite relaxing. He noticed that when sipping this cuppa, he can actually feel his muscles relaxing. This is definitely a "sipper" tea. You will want to make a special moment to fully enjoy this tea. Because of it being a rare tea, this tea is only available in smaller quantities up to 100 grams and available in 25 gram bags.
$7.00 – $88.99
This rare organic partially pan-fired roasted Japanese green tea is filled with nutty creaminess creating a more dense full flavored cuppa. The delightfully twisted rich gray-washed green leaves create a clear light green liquor.
Most Japanese green teas are steamed while this one is pan-fired, similar to Chinese green teas. What makes Kamairicha different than Hojicha, another popular Japanese roasted green tea, is the final production process stage. The lid that is placed on top of the pan for the roasting process creates a darker and smokier tea at higher temperatures (Hojicha) is not used allowing Kamairicha to be partially roasted at a lower temperature without the smokiness.
Recommendation:
Be sure to check the steeping temperature and timings as this is a delicate tea. This is also a great tea to serve in the GongFu method.
