Raspberry Matcha Organic
TeaCha's Notes:
The sweetly tart raspberry flavor is divine.
$2.00 – $46.99
A quality organic flavored matcha blended with organic cane sugar and flavor for a sweetly tart raspberry taste. This Japanese tea is consumed differently than other tea. It is in a powder form traditionally dissolved in water. Grown only in Japan, the tea is shaded for 3-4 weeks prior to harvesting, increasing chlorophyll and amino acid content.
Only young leaves are plucked creating a slightly higher caffeine content. Once plucked, the stems are stripped and leaves are deveined creating its first form, Tencha. Then, the Tencha is ground down into powder form becoming the final product, Matcha, the powerhouse of green tea. Richer in antioxidants and nutritional value. Unlike other teas where the leaves are steeped in water and you drink only the liquor, you ingest the entire leaf gaining full benefits of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). One glass of matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of green tea.
Preparation
- You will need a bowl (similar to a soup/cereal bowl) water, a whisk (preferably a bamboo matcha whisk, see our Teaware section on our website).
- Put 1 tablespoon of matcha per 6-8 ounces of water in the bowl. If making it iced with ice cubes, add an additional tablespoon per 16 ounces.
- Heat water to 165 – 175F degrees. Do not boil water, it will make the tea taste bitter.
- Put a small amount of heated water into the bowl and whisk until frothy. By using a small amount of water, the matcha will blend better.
- Add the remainder of the heated water and whisk briskly in an “M” shape to make it frothy.
- Now you are ready to drink directly from the bowl for hot. Or, pour over a glass of ice and enjoy it cool and refreshing.
In a more non-traditional way, you can also mix the matcha in a shaker without a matcha whisk. I find that using the bamboo whisk makes a better cup of tea. Because of the quality and cane sugar in this blend, it is great to include in recipes, lattes, smoothies and other unique creations. USDA Organic certified, Kosher certified.
Serving Suggestion – Be creative, mix this Matcha with our Vanilla Matcha for a special treat.
