Genmaicha
TeaCha's Notes:
I'm excited to present this Genmaicha green tea blend. It's savory but slightly sweet from the rice kernels. Some of the rice pops in the de-enzyming process adding a little popcorn to the tea. Some refer to this tea as "popcorn" tea. Genmaicha can be made with different types of green teas. This blend is made with a lovely sencha creating a beautifully balanced blend. This is one of the best Genmaicha's I have tasted.
$2.00 – $46.99
A sencha green tea with two types of rice; roasted and popped creating a warm, nutty, slightly sweet vegetal tea. This tea is steamed in the de-enzyming process which is typical for Japanese teas creating a more savory, umami brew. It’s a great cuppa to calm the stomach after a filling meal. It also makes a great cuppa in between meals, like a snack with no calories.

Recommendation:
If serving this iced, consider using an extra 1 1/2 teaspoon of tea for every 6 – 8 ounces of water to provide more flavor. Melting ice will dilute the blend. Or consider cold steeping this blend. To cold steep, put the appropriate amount of tea and water into a pitcher and let steep in the refrigerator for about 1 1/2 hours. Remove the tea leaves and voila, your tea is cold and ready to drink.
