Volcano Oolong
TeaCha's Notes:
This almost mid-oxidized oolong has a minerally nutty aroma. The flavor is fuller than the lighter oxidized oolongs and has floral and nutty notes along with a curiously delicious mineral note that comes from the volcanic soil. I found this oolong to be smooth and unique. If you are an oolong fan you must try it. In addition to its unique flavor it is organic.
Price range: $3.00 through $133.99
This organic Volcano Oolong is from Hainan Island in southern China. Not many teas come from this tropical resort province. In the center of the island is a dormant volcano and there are a few tea gardens at the base. This Oolong has an oxidation rate of 35-40% so the aroma is prominent, and the tea is a good candidate for gaiwan brewing, allowing the bloom & layers of the tea to come forth. This is considered a fairly rare find.

The Volcano Oolong is delightfully toasty and nutty, with some slight floral mixed in too. I really need to try this with a gaiwan so the flavor blooms with each steep.
If you like Da Hong Pao you will love this!

A great description. Come on over and we’ll do a oolong GongFu tasting together.
