TEAfish Takeout

(1 customer review)

TeaCha's Notes:
I am quite particular about my tea drinking vessels. I prefer glass and little to no plastic parts. I find that, for me, plastic, paper, even some stainless steel change the taste of tea. I am absolutely crazy about my TEAfish Takeout! This product has very little stainless steel, and silicon (unlike plastic) does not affect the flavor. I also prefer to have my tea hot. This vessel keeps my tea hot, hot, hot. There's nothing worse than having to rush to drink your delicious tea quickly to avoid it cooling down. You can also use this for Eastern infusions (gongfu steeping) as well as Western infusions by increasing the amount of tea leaves and decreasing the amount of water.

Many people are unaware you can have multiple steepings for most traditional teas. The amount of steepings will vary based on the type of tea. This vessel allows you to steep your tea multiple times, as many as you feel the tea leaves will allow.

To top it off, it is eco-friendly. If you have a "cup a day habit", switching from paper to the TEAfish Takeout, will eliminate about 23 lbs of waste per year.

Lastly, it's so easy to clean. I use a small spatula to scoop out the leaves then rinse it out and it's ready for a different tea.

Description

A truly unique glass tea ware. The stainless steel fish shaped tea press allows for full leaf infusion so you can experience the soul of tea by watching the leaves dance and unfurl while it steeps. Press down the metal tea press to stop the steeping. Then, the green silicone flap creates a vacuum seal letting you leave the tea leaves in the glass. Drink directly from the glass with little to no tea leaves in the liquid. The double wall borosilicate glass keeps your tea piping hot while the angled single wall lip edge lets you sip the tea without getting drenched.

For best steeping results:

  1. Simply drop your favorite tea leaves in the glass without the stainless steel tea press.
  2. Set your timer to the appropriate time (different times for the different tea types) and start your timer.
  3. Pour the hot water (water should be the correct temperature for the type of tea you are steeping) into the glass.
  4. Now, place the tea press in halfway or just low enough that the press will not fall/tip while steeping as it can break the glass (it’s a physics thing).
  5. When your timer goes off, press the tea press all the way down. You are now ready to enjoy your beautifully steeped tea. Use caution as the liquor will be hot.

Another benefit of the TEAfish Takeout, it’s easier to clean than screen infusers.

Before I get to the good stuff, you should know two things about me: I love tea and hate clutter. Which is fine, except most tea cups and mugs come with a tea strainer and saucer, which, in and of itself is lovely… until you have three or more of them.

Because then, your countertops or tea drawers are cluttered up with tea paraphernalia that you can’t really put anywhere else. They don’t stack, and where do you put the ones that are being used?

The answer to these and other tea mug/ strainer questions is the TEAfish.

It’s everything. A strainer. A cup. A thermos. The TEAfish truely is a multitasker.

And its easy to use! You just remove the press, scoop in your tea of choice, add hot water and plunge the press about a quarter of the way into the TEAfish. Then, you wait for your tea to steep. After your three minutes (or patience) runs out, you plunge the press all the way to the bottom: et voila, you have your cuppa.

Re-steeping is a breeze too: just pull the plunger back out, give your leaves a little fluff, and add water.

The TEAfish is the best tea gift I’ve given myself, with the added bonus that I don’t have to find a place to store it, because I’m always using it!
I wish I had found this years ago!!
