A great traditional black tea with the fragrant bergamot citrus fruit. In 1833, Earl Grey, the Earl of Howick Hall, British Prime Minister, suspended the East India Company tea price monopoly with China. This pure Chinese tea was lightly flavored with fine bergamot oil. This additional fragrance added by the Chinese, was intended to protect the tea from from the long sea voyage to royal England. Thus this tea received its name, Earl Grey, the embodiment of the finest English tea.
