Hathikuli FTGFOP1 Green Assam – Organic
If you've never tasted a green Assam, this is the one to try. I love how it's tannin creates a great contrast for green teas.
$2.00 – $46.99
This organic Hathikuli FTGFOP1 Green Assam has the beautiful light flavor of green teas while maintaining faithfulness to its assam roots. With a rich tannin taste the aroma is woody. The leaf is open and wiry unlike the traditional black Assam with a light green matte iridescent color. The lea leaves are hand plucked from clonal shrubs and the taste is quite noble. Green assam is unoxidized.
- The name “Hathikuli” means: “Hati” – elephant and “Kuli” – often. The Hathikuli tea garden is close to the Kaziranga National Park where roaming elephants frequent.
- What does the “alphabet soup” FTGFOP1 mean? Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe grade 1. It is the way the tea industry identifies and categorizes types and styles of teas in the international marketplace. It helps the buyer identify what type of tea they can expect and does not define the quality of the tea. There is no single grading system that could account for all the different reasons tea is produced. Teas are graded differently around the world. In China, teas can be categorized by region, season tea was plucked, leaf shape, the cultivar and/or by the legend behind the tea’s origins. Japan commonly focuses on the season of the pluck. India is based on OP, or Orange Pekoe, a whole leaf grade not a flavor or type of tea. Orange Pekoe only refers to a leaf size, full leaf.
